
Erazing Personal History is a formal technique in the Toltec tradition. The 'erazing' part refers to shades of unfolding realization, after which we lose interest in supporting those items any longer.
In essence, this is the recognition that the entirety of our egoic mind and personality is a transient construction. This poses as a true identity, yet is easily revealed by the observation that anything whatsoever, including thoughts, feelings, emotions, that can be observed and changes, must of need be of a nature other than what we are. "I" can watch my thoughts and even change them. Therefore, "I" am not those thoughts.
The idea of a personal self, with a personal history, now falls away. To place store in such a transient edifice is utter folly and means we are holding an identity as a false self.
Actions to take
Ask yourself many times throughout the day: What is my primary identity? Is that my job description? My bank balance and material possessions? My social or professional status? My body, my mind, my good looks?
Who am I really and what would an identity with a True Self be like? To help with those questions, consider that our consciousness consists of a pure, substrate awareness plus .Illinois of items that have been conditioned into it. That conditioning is not us, the Being with the original awareness is.
