Ganna Iskander - Level 3 Instructor - Florida USA
Bio
From a young age Ganna was drawn to spirituality and mind body connection and as a folk dancer she always knew that every move has a story to tell. However she did not fall in love with Yoga right away. Coming from Christian family Ganna always saw Yoga as a forbidden religion. Later when Yoga classes became popular in gyms, it was just a physical practice. In 2009, in her early 20’s, Ganna went to Bali on Yoga retreat and saw a different side of Yoga. She saw body-mind-soul connection , the power of meditation and something has shifted. She started practicing Ashtanga/Vinyasa yoga and the flow, beauty and meditative qualities captured her heart. She wanted to immerse herself in a training to deepen her own personal practice. Little did she know the universe had other plans. She got in a car accident and had a back injury. She could not walk unassisted and take Vinyasa classes. After months in therapy she was scheduled for shots and possibly surgery after. That’s when she decided to postpone treatment and truly practice Yoga . It was not vigorous, sweaty and strong flow. It was mindful connection of spirit , body and mind. She discovered meditations and started going deeper into philosophy of Yoga. She fall in love with Yin and restorative poses. She started taking classes in her local gym but they were not enough . That’s when she decided to get certified as a Yoga Teacher so she could share Yoga she knew and loved. She wanted people to take their focus away from looking good outside and take a good look inside . She wanted people to come out of her class fulfilled , with a beautiful smile not feeling exhausted and completely out of breath.
Ganna not only teaches group classes incorporating intelligent and invigorating sequencing, good music and calming energy but specializes in working one on one. She works with professional athletes, seniors and the local community using yoga as a tool to help address, assess and work through physical injuries and imbalances and foster a greater sense of awareness, healing and balance in the body and mind. She consistently continues her yoga education and is proud to be a part of the Sacred Spiral community where the standards of education are raising the bar in the health and wellness. Ganna strives to bring yoga into everyday life by doing, evolving and truly living it, allowing peace and joy to flourish within and spread to others! On her free time you will find her with her family and friends traveling and enjoying the beauty of this world!
