As a child, it used to be an usual seen to observe family elders’ morning rituals.
For what good they get up pretty early in the morning…to get involved in daily chores?
The most amazing thing was watching them performing different yoga poses. Simply not understanding how these body-breaking postures are benefitting them.
Over the years as I grew up, got indulged in yoga practices keeping in mind to follow a healthy routine. There came a time when I had to miss my yoga-practice for some important work like studies, exams, job which need an ample amount of time.
Gradually, my fondness for Yoga increased. I made it a point to step up my yoga mat each morning.
However, after getting married, the life turned hectic!
A full time job with family responsibilities…I was spread thin everywhere!
The Turning PointIn order to be a good wife, mother, employee, friend…I wasn’t good to myself!
Two pregnancies under caesar, tonne of stressors…
I knew, I was gaining weight and losing confidence.
Things did not stop here. I was literally starving myself to fit into my clothes. This was the last thing I did to split my body with my soul!
THEN WHAT HAPPENED…???My body stopped going with me, working on my commands, firstly…
Then started exhibiting various signs of distress!
To say, the life held my neck first, giving me Cervical Spondylosis.
In the second part, it scratched me from the bottom!
And then…??
Visits to doctors, physiotherapist could not heal my wounds. Medicines of all kinds proved to be useless here.
When nothing works, you should turn inward
So did I.
Today, I am grateful for picking up my neglected Yoga Mat. Stepping over and restarting with Cat and Cow Posture.
I threw up (yes, literally) my neck-collar and spend some time with myself.
Soon, I was on my legs, without trembling, on my head, without spinning…
Though, I forever sacrificed some of the intense yoga postures like Sarvangasana, Sirsasana, and a few back-bends.
I am enjoying my life in my body I am flexible enough to dust my doors and windows and often sit for hours to write a yoga tutorial.
